Dr. Atrian appointed to T32
New Frost lab postdoctoral fellow, Dr. Farzaneh Atrian, is now funded by an NIA-funded T32 Training Grant on the Biology of Aging. Dr. Atrian is investigating how brain aging affects the physical properties of neuronal nuclei. Well done, Farzaneh! And welcome to the field of geroscience!


Welcome to Dr. Atrian Afyani!
Dr. Farzaneh Atrian Afyani has joined the Frost lab as a postdoctoral fellow! Dr. Atrian was recruited to the lab based on her previous studies in the laboratory of Dr. Sophie Lelievre, where she investigated the effects of tissue architecture on nuclear function.
Frost lab receives grant from Rainwater Foundation
The Rainwater Foundation is funding a project in the Frost lab that aims to create a screenable Drosophila model of prion-like tau propagation.
Elias Gonzales joins Frost Lab as Research Assistant
Welcome Elias! I am extremely late in posting this (it's back-dated), and the lab is shut down due to COVID-19, so I have no way to come to the lab and photograph you awkwardly as I have for all other lab members. You win! Elias has joined the lab as a Research Assistant. He's a TUNEL-staining and TUNEL-counting fiend.

Bess Frost awarded second R01
Dr. Frost was awarded an RF1 (R01 equivalent) entitled "Investigating the role of transposable element dysregulation as a driver of neurotoxicity in tauopathy" from the National Institute on Aging and the National Institute on Neurological Disorders and Stroke. Click the image for grant details.


Simon receives travel award!
Congratulations to Simon Levy for receiving a travel award from the UTHSA Graduate School of Biological Sciences to attend the 2019 Neurodegenerative Disorders: New Insights and Therapeutic Opportunities Keystone Symposium in Keystone, CO.


Dr. Rebekah Mahoney accepts faculty position at St. Mary's University

Adrian accepted into the Scientist Mentoring & Diversity Program
