Frost lab publishes in Cell Reports
Nuclear calcium (Ca2+) is a major mediator of communication between synapses and nuclei and is critical for CREB-dependent gene expression. Mahoney, Ochoa Thomas and colleagues identify nuclear Ca2+ depletion as a pathomechanism connecting disease-associated forms of tau to neuronal death, adding an important dimension to the long-standing Ca2+ hypothesis of Alzheimer’s disease. This work was performed in collaboration with Dr. Radek Dobrowolski, and was funded by the America

We are hiring!
We are looking to hire a postdoctoral fellow with expertise in transposon biology. The NIH-funded project focuses on the role of transposable elements in Alzheimer's disease, related tauopathies, and physiological brain aging. We work with Drosophila, iPSC-derived neurons, organoids, mouse brain tissue, human fluids and post-mortem human brain tissue. Our focus ranges from basic science and bioinformatics to clinical trials. We are affiliated with the Barshop Institute for L
