We are thrilled to announce that Elizabeth Ochoa, Frost lab PhD student, has been selected as the 2022 graduate student recipient of the Joe H. Ward Jr. and Bettie B. Ward Award for Excellence in the Study of the Biology of Aging. This award is based on the originality and creativity of Elizabeth's research and its anticipated benefit to the aging research community. Dr. Meghna Chinchankar has joined the Frost lab as a postdoctoral fellow. Dr. Chinchankar earned her Integrated M.Sc. degree in Biotechnology from the University of Pune, India, and her Ph.D. in the Biology of Aging discipline of the Integrated Biomedical Sciences program at UT Heath San Antonio. In work led by Dr. Simon Levy, we have developed a new Drosophila tool for quantifying tau-tau interaction in real time in the brain of a living organism. This split-luciferase-based model, which we term "tauLUM," allows users to quantify tau multimerization at individual time points or longitudinally in adult, living flies housed in a 96-well plate.
