We are pleased to share our recent publication in Science Advances! https://www.science.org/doi/10.1126/sciadv.abq5423 This work was spearheaded by our most recent PhD graduate, Dr. Elizabeth Ochoa.

Congratulations to Elizabeth Ochoa - 2022 Ward Award Recipient
We are thrilled to announce that Elizabeth Ochoa, Frost lab PhD student, has been selected as the 2022 graduate student recipient of the Joe H. Ward Jr. and Bettie B. Ward Award for Excellence in the Study of the Biology of Aging. This award is based on the originality and creativity of Elizabeth's research and its anticipated benefit to the aging research community. Elizabeth will present her dissertation work at the Barshop Institute Seminar Series on Wednesday, November 9,

2022 Walk to End Alzheimer's - Frost Fleet!
We are currently fundraising in support of the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's. The Alzheimer's Association is raising funds that will allow them to provide 24/7 care and support for patients and caregivers and advance research toward methods of prevention, treatment, and, ultimately, a cure. Welcome to Dr. Chinchankar!
Dr. Meghna Chinchankar has joined the Frost lab as a postdoctoral fellow. Dr. Chinchankar earned her Integrated M.Sc. degree in Biotechnology from the University of Pune, India, and her Ph.D. in the Biology of Aging discipline of the Integrated Biomedical Sciences program at UT Heath San Antonio. Her dissertation research in the laboratory of Dr. Alfred Fisher focused on ER-associated proteostasis in a novel long-lived proteasomal mutant of C. elegans. During her time as a gr

It's National Postdoc Appreciation Week!
We'd like to take a moment to shine the spotlight on the postdocs currently training in the Frost lab. We are proud of everything they have achieved and their positive impact as mentors! Thank you for all of your contributions and advances you have made for our scientific endeavors.

New pub from the Frost lab! TauLUM: An in vivo reporter of tau-tau interaction
In work led by Dr. Simon Levy, we have developed a new Drosophila tool for quantifying tau-tau interaction in real time in the brain of a living organism. This split-luciferase-based model, which we term "tauLUM," allows users to quantify tau multimerization at individual time points or longitudinally in adult, living flies housed in a 96-well plate. TauLUM causes cell death in the adult Drosophila brain and responds to both pharmacological and genetic interventions. We find

Welcome back Annie!
We are thrilled that Annelise (Annie) Flores has returned to the Frost lab! Annie worked with us as Student Research Assistant in the summer of 2021. She recently graduated with a B.S. from UT Austin and is now with us full time. We love prodigal lab members who just cannot get enough.
