Congratulations to Simon Levy and Gabbe Zuniga - back-to-back passing of qualifying exams!

Elizabeth has joined the Frost lab for her dissertation research! Elizabeth, we are excited to have you and your excellent oral presentation skillz in the lab!

Congratulations Gabbe!

We extend our warmest welcome to Gabbe Zuniga, who has joined the lab as an M.D./Ph.D. student! Gabbe's undergraduate research was performed in the lab of Dr. John Pierce-Shimomura's at UT Austin, where she worked to identify novel pharmaceuticals that prevent neurodegeneration in a C. elegans model of Alzheimer's disease. Gabbe and Bess graduated from the same high school, so now we not only have Drosophila and human brain in the laboratory, we have two Dragons.

The Frost laboratory has received support from the William and Ella Owens Medical Research Foundation to study the role of transposable elements in Alzheimer's disease and related tauopathies. The William and Ella Owens Foundation was created in 1998 to support original research on the cause, treatment, or prevention of human diseases and disorders. Our sincerest thanks to the Owens family!

We are pleased to welcome first year graduate student Simon Levy to the lab! Simon hails from Switzerland, birthplace of Einstein. We expect nothing less, Simon. And also chocolate. When you go on vacation.

Our heartiest of welcomes to new postdoctoral fellow, Garrett Cornelison! Garrett made the long trip south from Austin. What San Antonio lacks in music festivals and Matthew McConaughey, Garrett, we make up for in delicious tacos and cost of living.
