Zach Uttke, MD/PhD student in the Brown MCB Graduate Program, successfully passed his qualifying exam and is officially a PhD candidate! Thanks to Dr. John Sedivy, Dr. Sofia Lizarraga and Dr. Marty Taylor for service on Zach's committee. Zach is focused on developing new assays for target engagement for nucleoside analog reverse transcriptase inhibitors.
One thing I enjoy most about traveling is discovering places at a slower pace and spending time away from busy cities. Mountain regions have always appealed to me because they offer a completely different atmosphere compared with urban destinations. During one of my searches, I found Atlas mountains hiking tours and appreciated the opportunity to learn more about the hiking experiences available in Morocco. I was particularly interested in the variety of landscapes and the opportunity to encounter local communities along the way. Trips like these remind me that sometimes the journey itself becomes the most memorable part of the experience.
